Angel Child Welfare Foundation (ACWF) is an NGO working for differently-abled children(Special Children). Founded by a group of parents and educators that work closely with Special Children, ACWF aims to sensitize citizens to Special Needs and the challenges faced by these children and their families.
ACWF raises funds for the Education, Medical needs, Therapeutic needs (Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech and Language Development, Aqua therapy), Customized orthopedic equipment, Alternative medical interventions ( Ayurveda and Homeopathy), etc for our children.
ACWF aims to sensitize citizens to the needs of Special Children and their families. ACWF also aims to help the families of Special Children feel comfortable, and 'taken care of’. Part of the funds raised, are channelized into helping take care of medical, and educational needs for the rest of the family ( if the family is in dire straits). ACWF has helped (normal) siblings of Special Children get access to higher education, parents of Special Children get treated for medical conditions that would have been an enormous financial strain on the family. ACWF realizes that our Special Children need to be nurtured in an environment of good health.

ACWF gives the funds directly to the institution/ school/ child development centre, and a stringent check is maintained on the utilization of the funds. There is a steady stream of follow-up with the concerned centre, to ensure that the children are receiving the treatment they need, and are making progress.
ACWF also holds workshops for parent counselling, to enable a healthy outlook towards their respective lives. We work towards creating an inclusive society….where children with Special Needs and their families,are treated with love and respect. A society where ordinary citizens can step up and reach out to help these children on their own accord.
The approximate cost for education for every child ranges from Rs. 800 to Rs. 6,500 per month, depending on the schools our children get enrolled into. We try and enrol our children into Government aided schools, because they are more affordable than private schools. But, in cases where there are no such schools in vicinity of the child, private schools are approached.
For routine medical visits, the children visit government hospitals, which are priced nominally. However, it is during surgeries, emergency medical treatments, and alternative medical treatments like Ayurveda, that the children need funds.
Surgeries cost anywhere between Rs. 1 -5 lakh.
Ayurveda averages between Rs. 1,200 (for OPD consulting), to Rs. 30,000 per month (for In-patient admission and treatment).
All treatments depend on the needs of the individual child.
Physiotherapy(PT) and Occupational Therapy(OT), both for physical development of the child, are priced in the range of Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 for a 45-minute-session. Speech Therapy is priced anywhere between Rs. 800 to Rs. 1500 per 30 or 45-minute-session, depending on the alacrity of the therapist. Depending on the severity of the child’s disability, an individual child may need 3 to 6 sessions of PT and OT(combined, or individually), and 1 to 3 sessions of speech therapy, independently or in combination with one another.
On an average, the cost of therapeutic interventions for a single child range between Rs. 1500 to Rs. 7000 per week, depending on the severity of disability in the child.
Our endeavour is to get all these services at a concessional price for the children, and some centres do have a policy of financial concession for the poor.
In addition to the above, some children need special aids and adaptive gear. Wheelchairs, crutches, special shoes, adaptive body suits, specialized chairs and standing boards for regular use, etc. These are individually tailored for each child.
Conclusion
ACWF acts as a conduct between the donors and the children receiving the aid. Our transparent functioning ensures that donors can interact with children and the treating professionals at any time.
Our 80G certification ensures that the donors get a tax benefit for every donation they make in cash.
